The residence is shaped by a deliberate sense of material weight, using darker surfaces and solid timber to give the interior a more physical presence. Along the circulation space, a continuous timber wall extends beyond its role as a visual backdrop, creating a surface that is experienced at close distance as the body moves through the interior. Its scale, grain and tactility turn an otherwise transitional corridor into a more deliberate part of the spatial sequence.

Throughout the residence, heavier materials are balanced through controlled proportions, recessed details and carefully positioned light. Rather than attempting to visually lighten every element, the design allows certain surfaces to retain their solidity and depth, creating contrast between darker volumes and quieter surrounding planes. The result is an interior where material is understood not only through appearance, but through proximity, touch and movement—giving the space a more tactile and physical character.
